[Adjust based upon what the hell Enoch's up to. (Or, to put it another way, if he's busy as balls on day 18, then we can move it to day 19. This is flexible.)]
you're the man who came from before the flood? heard about you.
[...if only there was an easier way of handling stuff like that when he's 90% sure he's got the right person, but at the same time just jumping to, "Sup, gonna interrogate you." just feels weird. You know? Besides, he's probably got a roommate right now and can't concentrate on wording.
So okay. Gonna go with that.]
we haven't talked but i got a few questions for you.
[Day 18 wasn't busy so much as harrowing. He's hardly slept enough for one day and it's been four since It had started this whole mess.
The monsters outside clawed at the door relentlessly, the canvases wedged under the doorknob creaking ominously. Dried paint on the walls and floor appeared to grow into hands that reached for him.
Then he got a message, one just for him, that called him "the man who came from before the flood."
The flood he had spent over three hundred years trying to prevent. The flood he was sure he had prevented; his mission was over, completed. There wasn't a Watcher left alive or free.
And yet... "[he] came from before the flood".]
What are your questions?
[He is grateful this is written and not spoken. His hands are shaking, but that can be corrected for with Lancer none the wiser.]
[Meanwhile, completely oblivious, it takes him like...15 minutes before he notices that he got a reply because he got distracted by snow/monsters/lack of sleep/other people.]
[The good news was that the guy probably wasn't someone who was supposed to kill Lancers. (Which he figured, but it's always good to double check these things when you run into historical figures out of myth and legend.)
The bad news was that the guy apparently had never heard of or seen the Holy Grail in general, and...in all honesty Lancer was kind of hoping he'd actually get a description of what it looked like because given everything he was kind of curious, not gonna lie. "Why yes, I've seen it!" "Oh great! So what does it look like." "It's made out of brass." Stuff like that.
Which brought them to this moment in which he considered...should he remain cagey and mysterious? Keep his secrets? This lasted for five seconds before, much like a t-rex roaring in victory across her island, the need to talk roared out. tlllllllll;drrrrrrrr!]
it's a magic cup which grants wishes. change the world! turn someone into a god. raise the dead. that sort of thing. the usual stuff.
tje original's connected to some people who know some people who i thought you might know so i thought i'd ask if you've seen it.
[Sounds like something disastrous was done with a Fruit of Wisdom, to him...]
Unfortunately not. It sounds like such a thing does not belong on Earth. When we escape this place and I return to my time, I will see to locating the original before it falls into dangerous hands.
[And he's not sure why, exactly, he felt he should seek information about it, unless...]
Do you think it's responsible for bringing us here?
maybe but if that's the case i pissed off some people. but it easily could do this; the teleportation, the fact we're trapped, taking away powers, bringing back the dead. all of it.
So that is two similar items that can seemingly do anything: Philosopher's stones, and this "Holy Grail".
I wonder if they are related. Do you know anything about the way this grail was formed? Or where it came from?
[Not that he's in any state to actually process and absorb this information properly. He'll probably have to come to any conclusions he draws all over again after rereading this when he's had some sleep.]
If you know, I might be able to spare you the pain of dealing with it. If I can stop any harm from happening at all because of it, I would like to do so. Would you be willing to share your information?
Philosopher's stones aren't something I know, no, but Greed, that is, @Greed, does. He's the one who told me about them. Apparently they are powered by horrific sacrificial rituals, and, like your Grail, can do nearly anything.
you do, acutally, but i was more asking because on the off chance someone i know shows up and they learn i told you about the grail i might get geased and have to try to kill you. it wouldn't be personal. you seem like an alright guy. but, you don't just lay something like that on someone who can't defend themselves.
But if this person you fear were to arrive here, wouldn't they be stripped of their powers as well?
[Horrifying as it sounds, the stripping of free will - he's dealt with being someone's puppet before and he's not willing to handle it again - this thought is immediate comfort. Nobody but whatever force drove him out of the school can do that here - and once they find that, it won't be able to, either.]
i'm not too worried. honestly. if my boss shows up? there's a lot of people out there. why would they pick him? and if they picked him he'd be stuck trying to survive like the rest of us. and like you said they take away our powers. but it's something they have to do, which means they could miss somebody (and given my luck it would be that bastard) and it could be reversed and we get our powers back. which means that six months from now he shows up, we undo what they did, he geases me, and i run around trying to silence everyone. i really don't think that would happen but i thought you'd appreciate being warned before i just laid it on you and then went oh by the way, i could be geased and told to kill you if this one guy shows up.
its pretty simple. 7 magi are chosen to fight for the grail. they are the masters. they summon 7 heroic spirits as servants (legendary figures, so hercules was there, i fought medea, gilgamesh was around...but msot of us are past your time) we fight to the death. only after 6 servants are killed does the grail appear. i'm one of them.
Then where could I find the real one? Or how could I prevent these replicas from being made? It sounds as if the world would be better off without it.
[Yes he is thinking about unraveling history for this thing. It sounds much better than it is to his tired mind. He doesn't even have the energy to ponder how he's supposed to have learned about it if he prevents the war Lancer was summoned for in the first place.]
if i knew that you'd think the magi would have us fighting for a replica in the first place? besides, you came several hundred years before i did. you'd probably know more than i do. assuming we came from the same earth in the first place
[It's cool, bro, one of his rivals is the AU future version of another rival of his, his universe and chronology can handle it.]
hey blondie where are you and the rest of the kindergarten brigade going to be in the next day or so? i need to find a new tablet and the new half-pint needs someone who can actually haul them away from a monster if one turns up
I take it the "new half-pint" is the owner of this tablet? If that's the case, hello, little one; you're sure to see this before he does.
We were going to stay in the dark two-story house between the tunnels and the school, but we can make it to the entrance of the tunnels, or further if you need.
